I think this was a great place for me to go - your mileage may vary. With the exception of the Greeks (which, as far as I can tell, the frats on campus are easier access to beer and drugs), people are generally friendly and open-minded. If you're looking for social life, this is not the place to go—admittedly, in my case, this is not an issue. It's a small campus, so if you want to know people, you're able to; professors will say "hi" as you walk past, as will many other students. The Greeks try to control all facets of social life on campus, what little there is, which always felt cliquish to me. However, there are nearly 100 organizations on campus, so if you want to fit in without beer and parties, you don't have to go Greek to do it. The housing system as freshmen isn't perfect - I specified "non-smoking" on my housing app and got stuck in a suite with three smokers (I'm severely allergic to tobacco smoke). The student body is a mixture of very liberal (the weed smokers league is the largest student organization) and highly conservative, so wars of words via the e-mail listserv will clog your boxes. But, I love the atmosphere and the curricula, which were the deciding factors for me.
