The excellent reputation of Springfield College in the local school systems brought my first full-time employer to me through the Alumni Office immediately upon graduation in the tight job market of 1969-70. I also met my very wonderful husband at SC! We have resided for more than 30 years in the suburbs of Springfield, where we have found that SC has equipped us both favorably with skills for raising our children and taking leadership roles in church, community and business sectors. We know SC students through church, and have had the pleasure of having SC students live with us and others visit in our home. They are predictably friendly, and have a great local reputation for community service! Mind and body were well nouished at SC in the late 60's as they are now, but I wish I'd had a viable Christian community available then at the "YMCA college" that enticed me with its triangle of mind, spirit and body education. Spiritual opportunities have improved greatly with dynamic student and alumni-led ministries now available on and off campus. I'd strongly encourage incoming students to connect with these where you'll readily find friends you can count on among caring, fun-loving students whose faith is real. I'd especially recommend your checking out "the Brickhouse"!
