Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
I was raised in a public school and have been to many universities for various reasons, and taking this into account, here is my opinion…Cedarville is an incredible institution that truly focuses on providing spiritual growth while training to engage the secular culture. The engineering classes have been mostly outstanding. (The math and chem department has some teachers that should be avoided.) It should be noted that CU has one of the best, if not the best, engineering programs in the midwest, and definitely the best out of any Christian college. In the past years, the number of engineer graduates passing their Fund. of Eng. exam has been 92%-100%! The Bible minor is excellent, as is the Bible faculty. These are true innerrantists that love God and want to actually CHALLENGE students worldview's, not indoctrinate them as mindless drones. The faculty truly care for you as an individual. The athletics are excellent, along with the athletic center available for student use.As a computer geek, I have to admit that the network here, "Cedarnet", is EXCELLENT. You have access to over 200 mbs worth of your files on any computer, including those outside of Cedarnet via internet. This is very handy. Also, all campus computers can run any program on the network very efficiently. The ID card scanning system, used campus wide, is very effective. The cafeteria is truly the best college cafeteria I have ever experienced. The dormitories are for the most part very high quality, and the 4 room "unit" setup in many dorms makes bonding with fellow students great. Chapel is excellent! I love chapel and I am so glad that is five days a week! The praise and worship is very genuine and the speakers are top notch. Our new president, Bill Brown, is really a great communicator. Great musicians and music program. The rules reflect that of a responsible Christian institution. If you want the freedom to party and have sex whenever, this isn't the school for you. Otherwise, expect a beautiful, safe campus, with the capacity for a great education and social life, without the secular perversions. My only problem is the students. I think too many of them have low, worldly standards, especially in their media decisions. (The again, my convictions are lot different from most evangelical Christians.) As a result, most students are not very exhorting, but then again, that's true anywhere you go. And, of course, there are some "rebels" that really shouldn't be at CU, but want to find a virgin wife or something. And yes, to some CU might be legalistic, but in that case, you probably shouldn't be going to a Bible-believing Christian school.I have really grown spiritually at CU and look forward to my next three years.
