Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
This school is just another example of what happens to the brain when the government takes control. You are simply a number to this school. A popular misconception among most of the students is liberal teachers=good school. Regardless of political leanings, if it leans too far either way it will stunt openmindedness. Why some think the same people that bring us the DMV can deliver a proper education are beyond me. In addition, only the government can retroactively charge you for a class you took 4 months ago b/c of budget cuts. Hey, I have an idea! How about prioritizing the budget b/f charging the students more to make up for you poor spending habits (Lights on in classrooms w/o students, air conditioning on in February).Forget graduating in 4 years. Even if you are a traditional student (parents/government pay your costs, you work less than 20 hrs a week, live at home, take 12+ units)you will be lucky to get your upper division classes. However, try being a nontraditional student (night classes) and you're looking at 5+ years. And for what?!? I had better learning moments in community college. I am a 3.8 GPA student and I LOVE to learn. I flourish when I'm challanged, however, I felt very bored in most of my classes. I had about 4 professors I respected and considered free-thinkers. The rest have been so sheltered in the world of academia that they have lost touch with the real world. I had a politican for a civics teacher (what a hoot!) and a senile physics professor that could not work basic formulas.I have been consistently disgusted with this school: administration, class schedule, student government, parking and the tickets, counselors. But,hey, it's the government. What can you expect? That's why I have chosen to attend a private graduate school. It may be more money (aka loan time)but the convenience of getting the class when I need it, not being charged for classes I took last semester, graduating in this century, and a school that sees me as a professional and not a number is what I want. Ahhh. What a breath of fresh air.
