Im a transfer student from Northern Virginia. I would have to say this university is not a list of schools Ive had in mind while college searching. The school overall is average. Average meaning, it has its highs and lows. The curriculum is a bit on the easy side, so if your looking forward to coming here to party often and not do homework this school is great for you. (PreCalculus/Calculus) is considered intermediate math at other universities! The dorms are like cell blocks. Our room was promised high speed internet late 2004. I still dont have high speed internet in my dorm. The food here is okay. They offer somewhat of a variety. The surrounding areas…I would only go out before it gets dark. Being a historical black college has its disadvantage since the school is centered in the projects. Overall, if your're someone who wants a good education and want to challenged, Norfolk State is not for you. However, if your that type to escape HS graduation and need a school to get into, NSU is for you. Tons of nice black girls, VA Beach is 15mins away, Hampton, Newport News and other cities are right here within driving distance.
