Hi, My name is Vincent Wester and I am graduating highschool this year. I've always wanted to get into the animation field but I'm feeling lost right now. I heard only good things about academy of art from people I know, but this site kind of discouraged me. There were a lot of negative comments that bothered me. I am a very dedicated person and I do work hard at things. I want to know, once I attend this school, if I do graduate, would my BFA be credible? Also, what do you think the chances of getting a job out of college in animation would be? From what I've read the animation department seems VERY good, and I'm excited about that. Also something about the school draws me toward it, and it is the school I'm wanting to attend the most right now. If you could, it would be great if you replied. Also, maybe tell me a little bit about what you do? That would be great too because I don't know much about animation. Do I have to be an excellent drawer to succeed? I could learn, but drawing isn't my best skill. I took art freshmen year, and really loved it and did very well but that was the only year. Anyways, thank you for your time and Good luck with your job |
Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
I graduated today..yeah!!! I start my new job at Pixar, June 20th. The University has 7500 students. This site seems to have attracted the whiners. The students in my major were for the most part very happy with the instructors and facilities. Yesterday the Animation Dept brought in 18 managers from Disney, 3 from Pixar, 2 from ILM…the list goes on and on …to review the portfolios of the graduating class. These companies were impressed with my portfolio and my peers. AAU is not for everyone. If you don't know what you want to do…go to a community college and save your money. I always wanted to work in Animation as a Technical Director…now I am doing it!!!Cheers,AAU AlumniClass of 2005
