I bet that all the positive comments were made by the school faculty or they hired students to do it. Intellectual paradise? Oh, pleaseee :) Most of the students in my math class didn't even know how to calculate a simple percentage problem. Algebra is of course on a higher-education level. Most of the classes have an open book exams, or teachers will give you questions in advance. And yet, just to prove my point of what kind of 'intellectuals' attend this school, a lot of students will get bad grades or will have no clue how to prepare for the test.

I attended the Chicago 'campus' which can be kind of scary at nights, especially in winters. Security is a joke and they are there just to watch the American Idol. When people double park you, they just say:

Oh, well, it happens a lot. Just wait.
(for TWO hours?!).

Bathrooms are usually out of paper and soap, an idea of a meal is a vending machine. Even though they try to be health concious about it in the last year, the selection in the machines is still pretty bad.

School administration is pretty bad about listening to the students' needs and most of the time they give out the crazy schedule which does not serve to the working commute student body (99% of NBC). When you try to make your own class, they ignore you. I know a lot of people who could not graduate on time because of this. Oh, and here's also the 'rotating schedule', which is another evil way of NBC getting money out of students. This means, that some classes are only offered twice, or once a year (at ridiculous hours). If you miss it, too bad.

They know how bad that is, so, most of the time they're trying to bribe people with some cheap and nasty food at the school 'events'.

Well, there are some good sides in this school, too. Classes are small and you get a lot of attention from the teachers. They know you by name and most of the time they are really friendly and approachable.

NBC is a commuter school and it should not be an option for the young student seeking a higher education. It might seem like a good cheap start towards the 4yr college, but believe me it is not. They have been raising the tuition for the last few years, and they charge fees for just breathing in the building. It will cost you about $16k (full-time, 12hrs), and the private 4ys schools start at $19. You do the math.

International students- stay away! They have no idea about your needs. Most of the time you'll be on your own, trying to figure out stuff about your status. They have no brochures for you, just a few dry lines in the school manual which are far from helpful. I've heard so many horror stories.
