Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
The words I use here cannot begin to express the gratitude I feel for Bob Jones University. Granted, I never would have said that after I graduated fifteen years ago. I chose to major in Education since all of my high school teachers told me I should use my talents in the classroom. As my college years progressed, all of the warning signs were there (mainly my lack of desire to work with young people), but in my pride, I ignored them. Needless to say, student teaching for me was a nightmare! I called home crying hysterically almost every night. At the time, all I wanted to do was blame other people for my own mistakes. The bottom line is that I had my eyes off of the Lord and only on myself. It took me years to realize God was using my student teaching experience to finally open my eyes and force me to see that He does not want me in a high school classroom. I asked the Lord to forgive me for all of the bitterness I held in my heart toward my students and teachers. I have a wonderful relationship with the teachers whom I was under while doing my student teaching, and I am now continuing my education at BJU with the hopes of someday completing a Masters Degree in Communications. I've been able to use my talents in a way that I never thought I would - Play Writing! The things I've learned in my classes will be valuable tools that I know I'll be able to use in my future ministry. The main thing I can say to anyone who is considering BJU is it's not a perfect place, but no place this side of Heaven ever will be! There are a few things that I don't agree with, but those things are so minor compared to all of the wonderful opportunities that are available to me. It's like Dr. Bob said one day in chapel - they have a good reason behind everything they do there. Pray about it, and ask the Lord to show you exactly where He would have you to go. If BJU is where He would have you to attend, He'll reveal it to you when the time comes.
