Sojourner-Douglass is an adult college and therefore does not offer a wide range of traditional types of extra-curricula experiences. However, the opportunities to engage in experiential learning are extraordinary. For adults this is the type of extra-curricula activities that we need, it contributes to our learning and it provides a higher quality of intellectual involvement because it provides the opportunity to analyze, interpret and apply theory rather than simply remember and feed back on a test. Further, the faculty are practitioners with real world experience in their field which gives real time meaning to the instruction. Additionally, we are encouraged and taught to work as teams which translates to the work place and the community with regard to service.
