I'm really dissappointed with this University. I'm in my second to last semester and wondering if there's a point in completing it. The classes are challenging but ultimately grades come down to the prof not wishing to fail too many people, so there's a substantial curve. The program is HEAVILY biased towards students who did their undergrads here, too. If you came in as a new grad student, you have no chance of getting on a research project or getting most assistantships. The labs are a cross between the Romper Room and Ghetto Fabulous. There's nothing but attitude and immaturity here. I can't stand my classmates - they're mostly drunks and airheads. I cannot imagine how this program will help me in the future, and in particular I'm concerned how much this program will HURT my reputation. However, I'm inclined to stick it out because NO PROFESSOR is willing to write me a recommendation, and if I drop out now, I have nothing to show for the past three years' work.Either way, I'll be lucky to find something beyond entry level. Thanks a lot, UMSL.
