Date: May 24 2007 Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time) I had a great experience at OU. The professor I worked for was fabulous but unfortunately he is no longer there. I was able to get several publications before I left. The chemistry department has had a huge change in faculty since I left. OU was a great place to go to grad school because the cost of living was really low which allowed me to graduate with out a lot of student loans. The department has a lot of TA and GA positions and generally students get funded until they finished. The department also tries to get their PhD students out in 4-5 years. If you are interested in outdoor activities, Athens is a great place to live. There is tons of camping/hiking opportunities nearby. I would recommend living outside of the Court Street area if you want a quieter life.My only regret is that I could have gone to a much higher ranked school. Now that I am established, it doesn't really matter but when I was first looking for a job I think that the schools ranking had a negative effect. On the plus side, I was able to be the
big fish in the small pond
which allowed me to get a bunch of awards that looked good on my resume. Overall, I would recommend OU.
