I did not have a good time at ODU. Almost all the students are commuters, and there are very few campus activities. I felt like the student body was extremely self concious and afraid of each other. Classes are pretty good, and I learned a lot, but the social life left me unfulfilled. I think the wierd atmosphere comes from the fact that there is a strange mix of military kids and urban black culture. There is hardly any student body unity probably because everyone is a commuter and does not feel invested in the school. The parties suck and are always getting busted, the cops are total douchebags. Basically ODU is still a school for kids from the Tidewater area who commute to school and then go hang out with their high school friends. It would be a good school if that weren't the case. There are clubs to join, and you can become part of an organization, but you'll probably just end up being stuck in a clique and not meeting any new people. If you're looking for a college experience, don't go to ODU.
