Hi I am somewhat saddened by what you said about this school, because I am a black female and I have to go there. Because its the only school that I got into that I can even consider going to. My question is "what about all the minorities that say they feel comfortable there and people are nice to them? Do you think they are just blind or something. Are the people somewhat friendly though, like if I wanted to could I speak to the white people or something. or would they look at me like I was crazy? THNKAS |
I can't take your post seriously because you consider yourself to be quite bright, but somehow you don't know how to spell excellent and you said the student body is extremely heterogenous, when clearly you meant to say homogenous. How'd you get into a college like Trinity anyhow? |
Major: Public Policy (This Major's Salary over time)
Let me start off my saying academically, Trinity is an excellant institution with a lot offer students in my department. I am a second year Public Policy and Law student. The faculty in the department are amazing and really have a lot of faith in getting the best out of their students. I will say, though, I have had bad experienes with 3 professors- two from concentration who happen to be the only two professors in that field, and one regarding a reiumburstment in another dept. As professors, they're amazing. And if they're not great professors, they're usually good people. You can't have the best of both worlds ALL the time. If all you want is an education, this is a good place to be.However, for a student like me who isn't the typical "Trin Trin" student, this place is HELL. It is extremely heterogenous. If you do not look like the majority, you will never feel like you belong. There is the regular trinity student, and then the rest who got in because of the effort to recruit minority students like me. I will say it's not worth it. There is NO social scene unless u like to crowd vernon st. at the frats and drink all night. Your only alternative really are the Hip Hop shows once a month, which get old after a while. I will recommend this school if you don't mind the "prep school" experience because that's what trinity is… an extention from prep school. If you're like me, someone who doesnt wanna just drink beer all night every weekend, because that's what's most available, and who is in college for more than just studying, trinity isn't the place to be. If you're into the frats and beer, being part of a mainstream Greek org, and like the whole J Crew image, this is a great place. People can argue with me all they want, but the point is, this place is for ONE type of person. If you're not that person, you're not gonna be happy here at Trinity. It is what it is… but it's not for me. I plan on transferring next year.
