Academically, this is a school you either really like or dislike. With One-Course-At-A-Time (OCAAT), you don't have to worry about having too many things due on one day, and you are able to focus more easily. However, OCAAT is very rushed, gives you little time to get a feel for the professor's expectations, and if you have an emergency one day, you fall behind drastically in class. This is not a school for someone who comes from a big city, or hopes for a diverse, friendly, open-minded school. The staff, especially the Residence Life and cafeteria staff, protect their own self interests at the sacrifice of the students they serve. The cliques are terrible, and the environment is similar to high school in its childishness. The cafeteria is ranked as the #19 worst cafeteria in a college or university, according to the Princeton Review. There are few restaurants in town, limiting your food options even more. Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, which are each about 25 mins away, have very limited options for night life as well.
