Major: Sociology (This Major's Salary over time)
My experiences were bitter/sweet. Because I was a White student on an all black campus in the mid 70's it was difficult for me to concentrate the way I wanted on my education because I was dealing with a great deal of racism. The other side of the coin was, I felt I got an excellent education that prepared me to continue on with my goals and the experience built character and made me who I am today. I went on years later to pursue my Master's and now work in Corporate America doing well. I have maintained friendships that have lasted a lifetime, however, if I had to do it all over again, I probably would have transferred to the University after my freshman year only because of the racial differences. It was like every year, I had to break in a freshman class and get them use to me being there. I participated in many of the things that college students do; cheerleading, dance, campus newspaper, queen courts, etc. but wasn't accepted by everyone, it was rough. But I go back and visit and still see some of the same administration that was there when I was a student and they always make me feel welcome. College is what you make it; you get out of it, what you put into it.
