Major: Finance (This Major's Salary over time)
While the grades I submitted may seem harsh, UNLV and the faculty have given me no reason to feel positive. When I transferred from the East Coast, I was a motivated student who enjoyed learning. It is now a year and a half later and i am beyond discouraged. Its not that I am not passing or barely passing, but certain grades I have received were not the grades that I earned. I can live with receiving a C from time to time, but not if I deserve an A. Exams, (especially those in the Finance Department) are not designed to be passed. I have entered exams confidently, relaxed, and with a perfect understanding of the material. Once i receive the exam I know all of the answers, but find the majority of others and myself are unable to finish. This even occurred in a two hour and 45 minute summer course. The same question may be asked three times. The exam maybe much longer then students were led to believe. The largest issue is that the professors ignore that 80% of students have yet to finish.
The Finance Department has no set curriculum. I took the same class in back-to-back terms. The Final in the second class consisted of completely different information, than the final in the first class.UNLV's Professors are mostly part time and preoccupied by what they call "research". Extra help is non existent unless its received from grad students. I have been treated disrespectfully by professors and administrators on five separate occasions.
I enjoyed my previous college, but UNLV is high school all over again. There is so much more i can say, but UNLV is no longer worth my time or the hard work I put into it. UNLV needs to be exposed for their ignorance. If you enjoy being treated as a nothing more than a number and working incredibly hard just to be let down, UNLV is the college for you.
