currently, i am a male, second-semester sophomore who dorms at the campus. i'm not much of a writer…i pretty much do lists but i will try to elaborate on things as much as i can. positives about the campus: good location - in terms of distance from Manhattan. its no more than a 15 min. subway train ride to times square. and there's several stores, shops, restaurants, clubs, pubs, and bars in the area. so if you like to venture out and socialize, you are all set.

safe campus - campus security are always out and about making sure that the students and faculty are alright. they are very tight about visitors and outside people coming onto campus.

class location - you can never really be late to class due to the fact that every building that you can have class in is somehow connected. only one department MIGHT require you to take class over in the Hoyt Ave. building which is a few blocks away. student body - its very very VERY diverse. everyone is a character. its really cool to meet different people from different cultures and background. the people that i have met are pretty easy going and easy to get along with. wet(?) campus (as opposed to dry campus) - this is one of the few campuses in the US in which you are allowed to drink alcohol after hours in your dorm room or in the student lounge after a certain time, of course if you are of age. negatives about the campus: security - the guards can be WAY too strict over things and are easily confused. they never seem to be all together as a unit. food - food on campus is sooooooooo terrible. dont expect anything great unless it's the provost student faculty christmas party. and sometimes that food is questionable.

professors - all of my professors that i've had; with the exceptions of a few; are below par in my opinion. they either give you tons of information to decipher with no sense of direction, lack the information needed to teach, or literally force you to teach the material to yourself. most of these professors are not looking out for the student at all. they are tenured so they are mostly out for the dollar signs.

school spirit - its really lacking and you really dont see any of it around the campus. the students are never \"in the loop\" with any of the clubs, organizations or sport teams. even some of the clubs and organizations are out of the loop with themselves.

a few things i forgot to mention:

I also feel that this campus is way too strict. you would think that since we are a school in the city, we would have some type of concert of some sort every month or so. this isnt the case. the powers that be feel that the student body isnt responsible enough to handle such an occasion.

the campus exterior is really nice. it recently got remodeled. it gives it that

rose out of concrete
look with how much wildlife and plants that are on campus compare to the surrounding downtown brooklyn area; which are predominately concrete and buildings. the campus interior on the other hand are not as welcoming. some sections of the campus are over due for a makeover. some of the bathrooms are falling apart, and some elevators are slowing down cause of constant usage. i never really understood the advisement thing…i feel like that you really should visit the campus yourself. everyones experience is different.
