La Sierra University is a place where one can learn to touch the stars…you just need to reach out your hand. The academics on campus varies by department but each strives to instill each student with the tools we will need upon graduation. Challenge the teachers and pick their minds…they're pretty brilliant! A smaller campus with an enrollment averaging 1900, the student to teacher ratio is ideal…definitely a place where "everyone knows your name." The dorms, though there is room for improvement, offer the students that chance to meet their neighbor and make lasting friendships. Commuter students may have it a little harder since hanging out with friends, trips to the cafeteria, night events, hearing about campus activities and a few other imperatives may be bypassed. One thing that sets LSU apart from other schools is our diversity. La Sierra has the most diverse population of ANY school east of the Mississippi…four years running. I love that you can meet so many different people while you're here. The cultural atmosphere is positive and once you leave this campus and head into the "real world" you'll realize just how lucky you were to be exposed to and to have learned from so many different ethnicities. Take the time to be involved. There are campus activities for your social enjoyment. Athletic games, plays, musicals, SALSU events, etc. Grab a friend and go! There are also many different clubs, like the Pre-Med, Southeast Asian, Missions, Club Ed, SIFE and more. If there isn't a club on campus that you like…you can start your own! Life at La Sierra may not have been what I originally envisioned…it was much, much more. Go. Be. Grow.
