this is my first semester at st johns and i am already thinkig about transferring. too bad you cant transfer during the spring semester. but this school is THE WORST school you can possibly go to. if you are thinkign about going here- PLEASE…re-evaluate your decisions and think it over twice. the education here SUCKS. if you want challenging courses and professors, this is not the place for it. while the people here are friendly, you are not academically challenged. as far as im concerned, yeah, there are a lot of papers for any professor, but the work is a piece of cake. its actually useless. they make you take 3 courses of theology. if you are lucky enough, you will get good professors that really care about your progress; but that is rare. THE FINANCIAL AID crappy also. i am in the financial aid office asking questions and you dont know how much people i hear asking about the same problems. first off, when they give you ure financial aid award letter, around march, it seems like they give you a lot of money. for me, it SEEMED like i didnt have to take out any loans, because that wasnt needed, as far as i was concerned. i had enough money "awarded" to me. then, a couple months later, they send me another financial aid award letter that WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT fromt the first one i received. this one, it turned out i need to take out a subsidized and unsubsidized loan to cover the costs of tuition. and the fees are crazy. they have like a @250 "NEW STUDENT FEE AND STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE" that is crazzy—thats $500 added to ure tuition right there. when i asked them why my original award letter deviated so much from the last one i received, they simply just said that the system wasnt updated yet. HELLO?? theres no turning back now. the deadline for other schools are over and i paid the deposit already. you dont know how much people had like $4000 differences in their award letters. and theres nothing you can do about it, except take out loans and more loans to cover the costs of this school. the school library—dont even get me started about it. there should be AT least some staff members in library in the morning. the printer is always running out of ink and paper, and you have to run all the way to the fourth floor, wait 15 mminutes—this can make you late for class already, and wait for them to put it in. i was talking to my friends the other day, and she has to pay a lot for this crappy school that makes you pay 15K per sememester. everytime i go to the fin aid office, someone is always asking about why the money amount is always changing, and they dont give you a clear logical answer for it. unless you want to get your money screwed over, then come here. you can spend the same money…its even worth it to take out loans for another school rather than this one. yuo shouldnt have to be paying a lot, or even applying for loans becauuse the school is old, food sucks, the professsors are ignorant, the services are just horrible. its not worth the money to come here at all, trust me. this is a school based on rolling admissions, and the courses arent challenging whatsoever. so unless you want to come here, you are guaranteed a's all semester. this can be a good start, and you can transfer into a better school. if you get c's and d's in the school, then trust me, i dont know what those kids are up to. the workload isnt even hard. thats not to say that you wont get papers, but…bottomline, theres no social life here, and lack of challenging courses make it hard to stay here. thats why im transferrring in my sophomore year
