Major: Music Education (This Major's Salary over time)
LSU has the true college experience for anyone who is willing to put himself out there. Upon arriving, you will hear "get involved!" over and over. It's good advice! I've found a great place at the LSU Wesley Foundation (the Methodist Campus Ministry) and Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity for women. Both Religious and Greek organizations of all types are abundant here. As for beyond extra curricular activities - the actual coursework you do - I'm sure it's somewhat dependent upon which field you go into. As a very self-motivated student, I found my freshman year in the School of Music to be easier than high school, but I know plenty of other freshmen that had to work extremely hard. Sophomore year is definitely proving to be much more challenging for me though. It's bearable and even enjoyable because I really love my professors. LSU School of Music boasts its music faculty for a good reason.

Do be forewarned that the University still has its quirks. As a student living in the dorms and without a car, getting meals can sometimes be frustrating seeing as how the dining halls are only open M-F, 7am-7pm. The Union is open on weekends, but its hours may depend on how the workers feel that day (beside the fact that the food gets old fast). There's a lot of construction going on, but it's really awesome when you get to see something completed and use it! And finally, the campus safety is somewhat questionable. The university does make efforts to maintain a safe environment, but it's difficult with LSU's location and major road (highland) running right through campus. If you're smart about safety though, it shouldn't be a problem. Generally, LSU is a great place to be to get a reasonably priced education, have a good time, meet a variety of people, experience a unique culture (with great food!), and have a fantastic time. Geaux Tigers!

questionI have one small question. i'm going to LSU next year from San Antonio. Someone told me that the parties are really segregated. that black people have their own party and white people have their own. now i'm getting nervous cause i come from a predominately white area where all my friends are white, i mean i have a couple black friends but i don't hang out with the ghetto crowd i'm known to people from my school as the light skinned preppy black girl. so is it really like this?? is there not at least a couple mixed parties?? thank you sooo much for reading this!!
questionI'm considering going to LSU for grad school, I wouldn't be in the greek scene, so I was wondering if there was a good bar/club scene or any nightlife nearby?
