Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
The University of Tampa has an absolutely gorgeous campus, located on the Hillsborough River across from the City. A few of the building are very historic, but kept up and in good condition. The majority of the residence halls have been built in the past ten years. They are all clean and convenient to live in. I lived in McKay, one of the two older dorms my freshman year. Even though it is not as modern as the newer residence halls, there is a great sense of a community/family feel with in them. McKay has a beautiful view of the city and river and a volleyball court right there. The classes are all on the smaller side, which I really like. There is one required computer lecture class that you must take freshman year and my class had about 70 in it. Otherwise my largest class has probably been about 35 and now that I'm a senior and in more selective classes, they range to be in the lower 20s.The faculty is absolutely brilliant and amazing. Because the class sizes are smaller, the teachers are very personable with their students. They are required to have office hours available every week for any extra help that a student might need. They will go out of their way for their students and want to see them succeed. I emailed m marketing professor last week about meeting with him when it was convenient in my schedule. He actually came into school to meet with me even though he had no classes to teach that day.The University of Tampa offers a freshman program called Gateways. It consists of a class once a week with an advisor and student mentor, as well as various seminars. It is a great way to help the transition process from high school to college. We do not have Greek housing, but Greek life is a lot of fun. We currently have 5 sororities on campus that average about 70 girls each. It is a great way to become involved on campus and created the bond of family/sisterhood away from home.I think that getting involved on campus is one of the best ways to adjust to college life and meet people. There are all kinds of intramural and club sports offered. The dance program puts on student-choreographed shows in the fall and spring that are open to anyone to audition, so much fun, and very supported by UT students.I am very involved at UT. I absolutely love this school and am so glad that I had the opportunity to go to the University of Tampa for all four years of my college experience here.
