I'm appalled at how bad California Community Colleges are, and Foothill has been the worst. I've taken a variety of online classes from schools including Oxford, Harvard, UCSD, BYU, and community colleges. It's amazing what a difference there is. Foothill has the worst "counseling" and "financial aid" departments one can possibly imagine. I literally spent ONE YEAR after initially enrolling trying to get some answers to simple questions. I finally ended up emailing EVERY SINGLE COUNSELOR all at once to complain and ask for someone - anyone - to even just respond once. Out of all of those people, about four counselors did at that point respond. Once I succeeded at that, I then spent another SIX MONTHS getting rational, useful followup to coordinating my financial aid (which they STILL have not completed). I'm a nice, rational person, with top grades, who doesn't have trouble figuring things out; but every student needs at least some minimal interaction with administration at some point - heck, administration requires it. As to the courses themselves, I'd say if you are looking for a skate-through to get an A.A., this is the place, if you can stand dealing with the headaches. The web information and course information in the class websites tends to be inaccurate and incomplete, but I just go with the flow with that. I'd recommend avoiding this college through because of the administrative nightmares. Oh, and watch out ordering online from the bookstore - you'll never see your order, and they'll "forget" and "lose" it.
