Date: Feb 18 2009 Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time) First, it is clearly evident that Pitzer College is a rising star in the academic front and offers a unique cutting edge cultural perspective on social & environmental dilemmas - hot topics today. That said, the student body remains highly diverse with the usual assortment of clicks and groups of interests: academic nerds, liberal activists, social reformists, capitalist, partiers, artistic elites, rich and poor. You also get what you put into the school in areas of education, friends, resume building, social advancement, parties and casual sex. You have that flexibility to just get by with average grades or kill it academically and move on to even better graduate studies or coveted jobs. The curriculum is not forgiving and can be often challenging, but you also are in a liberal arts program that offers latitude to skip what other institutions deem requisite material for a more well-rounded foundation. During my attendance as a student, I gave about 70% academically, but walked away with a solid education, great friends and many memories of wild nights. Even if Pitzer is considered liberal, I was not, nor was my group of friends. I concentrated in Economics, later completed my MBA and CFA. The message here, my academic and career interests differed from the theme at Pitzer, yet I had a rich experience and was embraced given the tolerance of acceptance at this rather exceptional forum for academic advancement.
