Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
On the positive side: I loved the small class sizes. You really get to know your classmates so Ive made some great friends there. Everyone is very friendly. I also enjoyed it being a mostly all girls school because you dont get that competition that co-ed schools have. In my 3 years there, I only had about 3 gen-ed classes with guys, and there would only be 1 in a class. So most girls came in, wearing whatever, and just being themselves. You actually got to focus on your education. Negatives:Ive never lived in the dorms but have been in them and had many friends live in them. Since its stuck in the old traditions of an all girl school, you are only allowed to have overnight visitors THREE, times a semester. AND they must sign in with the front office. Pretty ridiculous to me when you pay SO much for such a small dorm room. And as far as curriculum goes.. it is forever changing. One semester to the next, you will be given more classes to take that dont have anything to do with your major, but are just there to keep you longer. Schools are after all a business like any other it seems. So dont expect to graduate on time… And dont expect any help from the advisors in the Education dept—they have no idea what is going on, what classes youre gonna have to take and you cant get ahold of them to save your life. I used to literally stand outside their office until they came in b/c that was the only way to talk to them. Oh and parking is horrible - you pay almost 200 a semester for a pass, and u may or may not get a spot in one of the 3 lots. And Lot C is right in the ghetto so its not alot of fun walking back to your car there at night. The security guards are 1000 yrs old and offer no protection. And just regarding the quality of education. Its OK. As an ED major, I got alot more theory and alot less experience than i was hoping for. I didnt really feel prepared to teach at the end of it. But you do learn alot and most of the teachers are good. Yes, there are a few biased, feminist and overly religious ones, but youll have that I guess. It is a catholic girls school after all!
