Honestly, Wellesley does not have a social scene, which is its greatest drawback. I go to other co-ed schools to visit friends, and lifestyles are completely different. At Wellesley, be prepared to stay in on weekends, focus on grades over extra curricular activities, etc. There are rarely any parties on campus, and a lot of the parties that do happen are usually small. However, Wellesley is a place you come so that you can get a good education, and you learn to appreciate the small classes and the connections you have with your professors after a couple years. I think it is definitely a place for personal growth and maturity; it is a good place for women to "become stronger" and you learn to work hard. Most people stay in even on the weekends and try to catch up on their studies, and academics is a very serious matter. There is a grade deflation policy, so if you are looking to obtain a high GPA an easy way, this is not the place to be. I used to be the student that loves to procrastinate in high school, but I come here and I really changed. I developed a genuine interest in all my classes, and it really taught me to work hard and to always keep up. And, although it's an all girls school, the lesbian population is small. I love all my professors, and I don't even notice there aren't any boys on campus anymore. You learn to appreciate hanging out with your girlfriends and to value deep relationships and the little things. I had a hard time my first year and, trust me, every girl here at least one time or another seriously thinks about transferring, but you learn to love it, and its the best place for people that can sacrifice their social life for a good education.
