MCC is the best community college in the area. It is a commuter school though, making it hard to network and make new friends. However, I did involve myself with a few clubs while I was there and I have to say, it is worth hanging around after your classes are through for the day. The people you meet here are as friendly, and in most cases intelligent, as you would at the state university level. As for the faculty, all my business professors had real life work experience and were more on-time to their classes than were some of my other professors (psychology). Even the staff was more than helpful in helping me transfer from the counselors right down to the registrars office. And they never lost any of my paperwork unlike some of the universitys I applied to. The faculty and staff are friendly, informed, and well organized, what more could you ask for.

The campus itself is gorgeous. Everything, from their landscaping to their facilities, is either new or newly renovated. And its CLEAN. The campus is located in Manchester CT, which if youre going to commute to, you probably already are familiar with the area. For those of you who arent, theres a lot of restaurants and shopping centers on the north-side of town. Security is good, but I know for a lot of people who take night courses that there could be much better lighting in the parking lots. Oh, did I mention this is a commuter school? Traffic/parking SUCKS , from 9 AM to 7 PM. Drive about half a mile further down Spencer Street to reach the Bidwell Street entrance and park in lot B, itll save you about twenty minutes of your time. Otherwise, the campus is one of MCCs points of pride.

The school offers many different degrees in all sorts of fields. I have friends who are majoring in the computer sciences, and both have told me how knowledgeable their professors were. I once even had a chemistry professor who taught at UCONN and insisted that we learn the same material. That sad, course work is completely dependent on the instructor. My English composition class was entirely determined by how you scored on four papers, and that was it. No test, no quizzes, no homework. I was amazed to find out that half of my class dropped the course. Once again, its all up to the professor.

Overall, if youre looking for a two year school, whether you want to further your career with a degree or you want to spend time (and not money) figuring out what you want to study in college, you cant do better than MCC. Yes, Im glad that Im out of there and am finally moving onto university, but youll never hear me bad-mouth the one school that helped me get there.
