Date: Apr 21 2009 Major: Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc (This Major's Salary over time) I went to CIA when it was still only a five-year program. I chose to major in printmaking. The printmaking department at CIA is amazing and the faculty is awesome. It is a very small department and the personal studio spaces are huge. I recently learned that CIA might be getting rid of individual fine art majors for the 2009-10 school year; also it has gone from being a five year program to four years. I find this very disappointing and although I am an alumni I don't know if I would recommend CIA to a prospective student.I really enjoyed my time there as a printmaking student. However, in today's economy I don't know if attending CIA is that great of a choice- and I don't know if would go there again. Although, I love printmaking and the facilities at CIA are amazing- retrospectively I don't know if I would consider printmaking to be a practical major. I guess CIA is probably a good choice for an independently wealthy person who can afford to make only art. Or for someone who is really interested in designing cars.
