Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
PNCA is super theory based, many artists who get here can't keep up, its lots of reading, and lots of research to make art that is thoughtful and engaging. The aesthetic of your art is never abandoned and some new students and transfers get confused when they meet concept for the first time in their work. They think the idea is the most important thing and they let go, and end up taping trash to the wall as a "gesture" then they get shredded in crit and end up confused. The first day I was here my first faculty member asked me what kind of art I was into, so drop my favorite on her, Caulder. And she looks at me kindly and says, "You know a lot of shit has happened in the fifty years since he died, you might want to get caught up." So I did, and I am a better artist and better student because of the time she spent with me. Any of my friends who transferred out left because they didn't connect to a faculty or cause their boyfriend dumped them. The academic classes are good and bad, if you get the right faculty they are awesome, we built a Ukulele in our math class.
