If you're creative, have passions, if you're a dreamer, open-minded (not liberal open(closed)minded), and want to work with faculty and students of a similar caliber don't go to Pacific. The school is great at marketing, but very little of it is true. Most of the students only seek to be ordinary and as such the school's academics are not challenging (quantity of coursework does not equal quality). In addition you'll soon find that most of the Professors have done nothing outside of academics and are often not able to provide useful career/major advice. Before you decide to go to Pacific visit the campus, look around (on and off campus), and ask yourself why an college that's been around for 160 years has not had more of a positive affect on Forest Grove. Through the college pre-existed the city (and state) the Grove's economic/social success is reflective of the quality of education you'll receive at Pacific (an of the school's actual commitment to the community). On my last note: The school is not community or student centered. You'll find that through the administration openly invites student comment that the general is that you're only a student and the administrators know what's best. This is the key problem with Pacific: It treats its' students as if they were still young children. I believe that college should transform the individual, challenging your beliefs while forcing you to build a strong foundation. Instead this school will ensure that you remain intellectually safe from opinion diverge from those of the school's/professors. Lastly, over the previous two years Pacific has raised tuition 17% and 6% per year (2007/2008 respectively) and plans to continue these 6% raises over the next 3 years (according to the school's three year budget projection).

In Summary:

I admit that many of students and staff are nice, but you'll find that at most colleges. Yet, those whose passion requires them to learn and think independently will not fit in. During my year here I've felt as through I left highschool and entered kindergarten (animal sounds in the dorm hallway and a desire among most students to avoid any intellectual discussion). In my opinion the small size of the school and community were fine, however you will disappointed if you quality healthcare (Do not go to Tuality—Go to a Portland hospital) or easy access to (fairly priced) goods and services.

Also if you want to know more count the number of errors in the student mewspapper (purposely mistake).
