Please read this review if you are considering attending Dowling, because I can not wish onto another human being an experience as unsatisfactory as mine. I am a student at the Brookhaven campus, and can only provide an opinion of my surroundings. Students pay quite a bit of money to go here, and very rarely ever see a dime of it spent to improve the quality of life. The RA's are ignorant, mindless, and inefficient. Important notifications such as bus schedule changes tend to not be sent by email until half an hour prior to the effective time. As far as residence life goes, there is little to none if you are not staying at the Oakdale campus. This is true unless you like to drink and play pool all day. Going to the Oakdale campus simply for fun is extremely inconvenient, considering it is half an hour away by car. It is not worth the drive anyway, considering residence life there is also depressingly limited. The cafeteria food is absolutely horrible at Brookhaven. Cafeteria employees seldom care to give you anything more than cold fries and half-hour old burgers. At the same time, these employees are horribly inefficient, and take much longer than is reasonable to even acknowledge that you are waiting to have your order taken. If it were not for the fact that Embry-Riddle costs way too much, I would not consider coming here even if you paid me. If you are not an aviation major, DO NOT COME TO THIS COLLEGE. IT WILL BE A WASTE OF FOUR OF THE MOST IMPORTANT YEARS OF YOUR LIFE. But please, do not take my word for it. Read other reviews from other sites, or try to contact current Dowling students besides myself. This review should not be seen as an attack on Dowling College. It is simply an attempt to guide others away from making a horrible mistake.
