The college has a good engineering program and decent academics but it offers little else. There are good teachers that are willing to help and class sizes are small. The problem is that the campus is located in an extremely small town and there is not much to do. On the weekends everybody packs up and leaves and the campus is deserted. And unless you are into drinking, there is little else to do in terms of having a social life. And while the campus is growing, it is rated the least competitive of all the Universities of Wisconsin. In general, if you are just looking to get a degree quickly and easily, it is a good choice. If you're looking for more in college though, then UWP is not the school for you.

responseThe surround city really doesn't have that much to offer and drinking is a large part of the social life here. However, if you get involved in organizations(which there are over 200 of) there is usually something to do on the weekends besides drinking. Also there are many intramurals here on campus with a high participation rate.
responseI agree… I've been here for a few years and I always have friends around on most weekends. you need to get out in the clubs and sports (there are a lot of them if you look) and meet some students that have been there awhile. They will have ideas on what to do, and if your not into drinking find someone else with the same veiw, they are there. Also dont say that the engineering degree is easy until you acctually take part in upper level math and engineering classes, I think you have a rude awakening coming. last thing, college is what you get out of it. People arent typiccally going to run up to you to be friends with you… put some effort in.
