I transfered into this University from a Traditional University, in Southern MS that was terrific. My decision tp attend was based on three things, one my close friend gave it great reviews and her enrollment counselor was very warm and did all she could to help me transfer. The second was, the school boast a reputation as being built on Christian values and supporting the student body. The third was, I had had a really bad experiences with two traditional Universities that sucked and wanted to try a completely online situation so I could work fulltime. To my chagrin, this was a BAD move and if I could do it over I would. GCU experienced growth and lost their minds, they started hiring instructors that can not teach and are rude, disrespectful, nasty and need to be put back in their place on the regular. My tuition went up, and it took a week of phne calls and e-mails before I could get a decent answer to ny questions. Summer of 2009 proved to be the worst semester in the history of my college career. Started out with the financial aid department dropping the ball and not requesting my loan money, then sending ot a crazy e-mail and phone call o demand payment. Which in turn got multiple people's feelings hurt. Secondly, my finacial aid counselor and accademic counselor both had greviences submitted on them for their nasty and inappropriate e-mail correspondance. Lastly, I hadto speak to the Asst. Dean of the College of Liberal Arts because my instructor, was ignorant, arrogant and lacked common sense. GCU puts too much stress on CLC Projects and personally alot of people are lazy and expect their classmates to do their work, I have only had 2 decent CLC Team experiences. I think that their (GCU's) hiring practices need some revamping, it seems like they will let anyone teach. They charge too much tuition for a sub-par education. I am glad that I transfered in as a Junior, who had 90 hours. I am currently enrolled and will be graduating mid year 2010, I am happy to be almost done with this degree. Though my experience has been poor, have maintained a 4.0 GPA, met a few people who I have befriended and have had two really good enrollment counselors that have gone far beyond the scope of their jobs to provide me with information and encouragement.Other than that I would say do not attend, your money would be better spent going to another University either online or traditional.
