Everything written about Spencerian here is absolutely true according to my experience. It's a big joke and the biggest mistake I every made. First of all when you get there they seem real nice and helpful. They seem like they just want to help you. In all honesty, they are pretty much con artists. Liars. When I sat down the first day to meet with one of the recruiters I told her I was interested in the Radiologic Technology program, so she told me that I would have to start out in the Limited X-Ray machine operator program because the RT program only accepts four people each quarter, which isn't true. Then, she goes on to tell me that once I get to a certain point with my classes I can switch over to the RT program. Sounded great at the time. Once I got to that point with classes myself and a few other classmates who were told the same thing had a meeting with the head of RT program and she explained to us that we were too far along in our studies to switch over because it would throw us off course ,according to the RT program schedule, although these were their recommendations. She did however suggest that we finish this $20,000 program and come back and start fresh in the even more expensive RT program. (All in our best interest, of course) So, being angry, I decided to drop out of school and call it a day. Well, later on I got to thinking I wanted to go back to school so I was going to go to their "sister school" Sullivan University, while applying I was told that my tuition was in collection (not that anyone bothered to call or send me a letter to tell me this) and that I couldn't attend school until I paid $200.00 to make my account current. So I paid $200.00 and went back to Sullivan and said I was ready. Well, again, I was told no, can't go to Sullivan because we cant set up two separate accounts until you pay back your tuition. So, I call Spencerian and tell them I want to come back to school. They tell me, too bad, can't come back until you pay all of your tuition in full. Now, just so you know. This tuition, which wasn't explained to me the way they did it, was set up way different than I thought, It wasn't all wrapped up in one student loan, they set aside a loan for $1200 (still don't know what its for) and $400 CEF (Career Education Fund, maybe?) loan they call it. This is all separate from my Federal Stafford loan keep in mind. So, the idea here is that once you leave school within 30 days you are expected to start to pay back these loans from the school. (So they tell me) Well, needless to say I didn't know this and they didn't inform me until I contacted them telling them I wanted to come back to school. Now, A about a year after being out of school I get this random letter telling me I need to repay a loan for $400.00. So I call the school and ask them what its for and they tell me that 30 days after leaving school you have to start repaying this CEF loan and I tell them Its been about a year. Well, tough luck on my part, considering I could have already had it paid off by that point. I fought with the woman in the collection over the phone for several minutes considering this is the second surprise I have received from them after leaving school. Now If you have made it this far in my letter, on top of the money and lies, the classes are a big joke. I was taking night classes so I stated at 6 PM and by most night (with the exception of two or so classes) I was about by 8 PM. All classes were supposed to last until 9:45 PM. So, for the outrageous price your paying you aren't getting your moneys worth on time spent in school. Also, when I attended math class the teacher was so pathetic, he stood up there and talked to the board going over answers from the back of the book, didn't teach on single thing and never checked homework to see if you learned it because as he put it, he wasn't interested in staying there any longer than we were. Usually stayed in that class about an hour at the most. Also was told to buy work books, which we never used, but cost way more than they were worth. Had to pay a monthly $111.00 fee, that no one could tell me what it was for. I asked three people in the office and never got a straight answer on that one. To this day, still don't know.
