I really didn't enjoy my experience at Haverford at all. If you like an internationally diverse school, don't go here. If you enjoy having lots of new people to meet each weekend, don't go here. If you enjoy having extremely small department sizes that therefore limits the diversity of classes and specializations, go here.

Honestly, my biggest problem was that Haverford was just too small. If you don't get along with a certain professor in your major, you are somewhat screwed, because you can bet you will have at least three classes that you must take with them to fulfill your major requirements. Having grown up overseas and around cities, I was crestfallen when a college with such a high reputation and reviews could be full of so many closed-minded individuals, and that trains into Philly cost 20 dollars at night for a return ticket! If you're thinking of going here to reap the benefits of Philly, you better bring your car.

You will find some cut-throat competition here if you are intelligent because let's face it, everyone who gets into Haverford is intelligent! They say no one talks about grades, but everyone hints at superb scores. You may find yourself feeling very lonely in the B grade group.

Instead of finding folks who were happy about meeting new people with varying mindsets and experiences, I found myself alienated for having grown up overseas. I had to cling to the thirty-odd international students just to get by.

Competition runs fierce to prove to your professors that you are just as intelligent and worthy as any other student, and I found it tiresome and depressing. A number of my friends that graduated now feel unprepared for the world and have jumped back into grad school just to enjoy the same comforts of college again.

If you think you are part of the niche that Haverford fills for the competitive, culturally homogeneous, and obsessive student, then you will do well here.

On a positive note, the campus is very pretty.
