Embry Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach

I have yet to attend Embry riddle. I'm starting in the spring 2011 semester. I'm currently active duty Navy and have been an aviation enthusiast since I was about 11 years old and am only a few hours away from my private pilot?s license. After checking on this site and reading all of the horrible reviews people have left about this school it left me kind of concerned being as I'm going to be attending studying under the aviation science degree. I can't speak on the behalf of the school however I know of a couple of students that are currently attending Embry Riddle and love it. After seeing all the negative reviews on this school I searched around looking at other schools that offer similar aviation programs such as UND and found even more negative reviews. Then I just started searching around for regular state colleges and have come to the conclusion that this is nothing but a "bitch about your school forum". Since I'm getting out of the military and am using my GI bill, I'm trying to make sure I go to the best school that I possibly can for the simple fact that I'm using my GI bill to get there (which covers everything at embry). The biggest complaints that I've read about this school are 1. Price 2. Lack of girls 3. Not a party school 4. Location and 5. The school being too uptight about alcohol (falls under the party category). First of all you should really do your research about costs and financial aid for any school your applying to and fully understand what it?s going to cost you. Not bitch about it after graduation or halfway through your 4 year term. Second it's an engineering and aero science school, do you really think there?s going to be lushes babes out the wood works at a school that?s geared solely towards aviation and engineering? If you want to meet a girl uh? The beach is right there. Party school… This school has a population of some four odd thousand students with a male to female ratio of 6:1 that speaks for itself obviously it?s not a party school. Besides if you?re going to embry riddle you should be going for the education not the partying… I can't speak for Daytona Beach, I've never been there but I've honestly never heard anyone complain about Daytona Beach Florida. Lastly for anyone that has any broad knowledge of aviation, or a private pilot?s license knows what alcohol related incidents can do to your aviation career especially if you?re a pilot, and for those of you that don't know guess what? A single DUI related incident can bar you from your first class medical which is required to land you any kind of a career as a pilot. As far as I can see this school try?s to prepare you to be a professional individual by having you dress in khakis to fly, trying to keep the alcohol to a minimum, etc? If you?re flying at embry riddle I?m assuming it?s safe to say that you want to obviously become a pilot most likely airline someday. If you?re piloting any type of jet or passenger based puddle jumper whether it be for the airlines or corporate you?re going to be wearing the same thing I put on every day. A uniform! Button up shirt black pants, black chloroform shoes with black socks and a tie; I?ve been doing it for four years and trust me, you get used to it. If you?re looking for a party school why in the hell would you choose a school like embry riddle? Again I?m not saying that embry riddle is the greatest school or the worst school, I?m commenting on the reasons people are posting about schools on this website particularly embry riddle. If you want a party school might I suggest WSU, Pullman Washington is nothing but a college town. I apologize if I?ve offended anybody but honestly I really don?t care. I have a feeling when I get here there?s going to be nothing but little 18 year old post high school shits that are riding off of their parents money to go to school and are complaining about it on top of that. I am excited to go to this school and can?t wait. I will post an honest opinion of embry riddle after first semester.
