Some of the comments on here are obviously posted by people who got rejected to UC's or private schools. I've been at CSUN for four years and I've lived in the dorms (1yr) commuted (1yr) and lived in an apartment close by (2yrs). The school overall is a good school. Like any other school, there are good and bad things and each person takes things different ways.

For me, good things have been

1.a safe environment

2. experienced, helpful faculty-in my major department (one who has actually worked in the field I want to get into-Fashion Merchandising and has connections with MANY people in the industry)

3. employment (I'm a non-work study student who needs to work and it's extremely flexible with my school schedule and projects needed to be done out of class)

4. A LOT of on campus resources (mini marts on campus, textbooks on reserve in the library so you dont have to buy them, FREE printing [20pgs a day but its still free], writing/math labs, etc.)

There are some not so good aspects of CSUN also. Like someone stated before a lot of the teachers here are not fluent in english so its hard to understand them sometimes BUT most teachers do post powerpoint slides on moodle (a website that separates each course youre enrolled in and teachers can post all course material and grades)

Tuition-not really gonna go into that because all CSUs are dealing with that

Class registration does fill up quickly but if you apply for graduation on time you'll have priority registration for the whole year before you graduate-and if you email the teacher when you notice the class has filled up (check frequently) you'll most likely get added to the class

Some advisors in the EOP offices of the different colleges(majors) don't really know what you need for your specific option but that is what the option advisors are for. They often are in the industry and have connections to internships which you will most likely need to graduate

I'm not really into the social aspect of college but I have seen a lot of advertisements for different concerts and events that AS has put on. Theyve held some good concerts in the past (LMFAO, Ne-Yo, Ludacris etc.)

One last thing-I've managed to explore all three aspects of living situations while attending csun (lol). The dorms are cool..make friends with your roommates and people on your floor..it will make your experience much better
