First off, I hope prospective students aren?t taking what a bunch of high school kids coming down here on a visit seriously. To the guy from New York who said he was an athlete coming here to play sports. Bro you spent a day here, you didn?t see anything. If you would have drove around south Tampa, Soho, Clearwater, Downtown Saint Petersburg, you would find there is a lot to do. Miami is four hour drive, Orlando is an hour, Atlanta is five to six, Tampa is the perfect location for people looking for a night life or weekend getaways. My second point is don?t flattery yourself I?m sure the coach wasn?t disappointed to see you fly home. They "sell" the school to everyone, almost everyone even non athletes get some kind of scholarship cause the cost is so high. If you really had skill your sorry ass would be playing for a D1 school.

Academics, I wish they were harder, I wish it was more of a private school standard. Quite frankly its not too bad. Not easy but not hard. I grew up in the shadows of UT for most of my adult life. I was always told it was one of the best schools in the state academically and definitely one of the hardest. When i finally got here I definitely noticed it wasn?t hard at all. It?s no harder than the way the course is taught anywhere else. I had aspirations to go to the IV league after, I?m holding on to a 3.85GPA after 80hrs but at this point I?m not sure UT carries that much weight anymore. It may have been highly revered back in the day but it?s just a typical everyday school now. No added prestige in going here. Having to do it over, I would have opted for a school in the North East somewhere in New England or in Florida I would have gone to UF.

Security is a problem right around the school. There are rough areas where crime does occur. But unless you?re from some small country town in the Midwest still watching TV on a projection tube, and the only exciting thing that happens is the annual pie eating contest, you?re going to see crime everywhere. Tampa is much safer than most major cities. Tampa is far safer than Miami, Jacksonville, New York City, or Atlanta. I would say just stick to the main areas of town, don?t go wondering off into neighborhoods you don?t have any business being in and your fine. Don?t walk around alone at night stumbling back drunk and you will have no problems. Its common sense really, I wouldn?t go to new York and act like an idiot in Harlem or the bad side of the Bronx just like I wouldn?t expect someone from up north to go wondering down Cass St. or hanging out on Nebraska after hours. Yes crime does exist this isn?t Stepford. All in all I?m neutral. I?d like to see better dorms for the kids in the dorms, and tougher academics. Raise the bar on this place so our graduate school applications will actually mean something coming from here. I think they owe that to us for 34000 a year.
