Allegheny College

I felt as though the faculty, and program itself, was of great quality. Though, this should not be the only factor in determining where you apply. Allegheny College was completely lacking of the "college" aspect. Activities on campus alternated between studying all night on weekdays, and binge drinking on weekends. Partying was simply for underclassmen to spend $5 on unlimited booze. While there were stand up comedians once a month, there was very little to do on a weekend for a person like me who preferred not being hung over every Sunday morning. The people aren't much better. Though I had a good hall and some high school friends, much of the 2000 person campus has this false sense of superiority, since Allegheny is a competitive school. My physics case study was spent listening to my partner describe how much better he was than the teacher. He ended up failing the class. It's also the same feel as high school. Even though the classes are 20-30 people, it's 20-30 people who refuse to associate with someone who isn't in their "clique".

Sorry for the essay, but it needed to be said. If you want a college that will stress you for four years and look decent on a degree, don't hesitate to enroll. But, if you are one of the people who wants college to be the best four years of their life, skip this option. Thanks to my hasty enrollment, I have already thrown two of mine away, and wouldn't wish that upon anybody else.
