There's better community colleges in Illinois with better programs of study less ridiculous pre-requisites for classes and doesn't nickle and dime you like this one. Also from the time I've been there, there have been cars vandalized and broken into in broad daylight and the campus security have been absolutely useless and they have an office facing the main parking lot where the incidents occurred! I'm not buying its just a community college excuse because there's better out there. I wouldn't even go here for gen eds. |

OK what people need to realize here is that this IS a Jr College. You go there to get your Gen Ed's out of the way. I know of no Jr College's that are known for stellar reputation like Loyola, Northwestern, DePaul, etc. If you want that level of education then by all means, go to those schools and pay 10x as much for the same gen ed's. I am a busy working mother of two. I didn't mind prairie state, I enjoyed the classes the vast majority of profs were great and I enjoyed learning. Was I challenged? Not really, but again it's a community college! Anyone can get in so they have to cater to the "anyone". They don't have standards like the big Universities do. My only real complaint is that you can not usually graduate with an Associates in anything because a lot of the time the courses they require for it aren't offered. Ever. I was in a class and the kid next to me said he has been waiting for one class for two years.
