Fort Valley State University

First let me say that I love my school. Up until my Junior year of High-school,I was set on attending Albany State University, (whom I can now proclaim as our rivals). However, after a tour of Fort Valley State University's Campus I instantly felt a connection with the school. I knew it was the one for me. Growing up in a rather urban area, (the second largest city in Georgia) I was looking for a change, and a subtle place where the transition of being on my own could go quite smoothly.

Fort Valley State University is a great place for first-time college students. Although it is located in a rather less exciting, very small town, it is very close to Warner Robins, Macon, and only 2 hours away from Atlanta.

All of the students that I have met so far are very friendly, and treat everyone as students instead of "underclassmen" or "freshmen fresh meat".

Unfortunately there are some negative points to Fort Valley that I must share. Although the falculty are helpful and friendly, the system perhaps needs a little more fine-tunning. There may be a lack of communication between various departments, such as admissions and finanical aid, and if you are not on top of your own paperwork, and keeping up with everything that you do and when you do it, chaos can often come into play.

It is PERTINENT that you stay in contact with necessary individuals, such as housing officials, your financial advisor, and always keep close tabs with a falculty member, that can always look out for you.

Other than that THE Fort Valley State University is a great place to take that next step in education. However if THE Fort Valley State University is not the school for you, wherever you end up going stay active, don't be afraid to make new friends, and have LOTS OF FUN!!!
