Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time)
Colby is just such a welcoming community, both academically and socially. We have mixed year dorms and fantastic community advisors (equivalent of RAs), so you get to know all sorts of other students from the start. Then again through extracurriculars: there are so many clubs and options for students of all interests, and you really get to know people and enter in close groups of people through clubs and activities. I don't really know anyone who's not involved in anything outside of class. I'm a theater kid, and I just love the student theater club (where the college funds around 8-10 student productions a year and anyone can get a chance to direct or stage design or act if they so desire) and the department is very close-knit but very welcoming. One of the best things about coming to a school like Colby is the level of engagement in classes. Everyone is intelligent, works hard, and cares about the topics they study. This leads to just fantastic conversation in classes. My perspective and understanding of the world around me has changed and grown incredibly over the past few years, and I see the world and social structures around me in completely different ways.
