This review sounds like it's coming form an enrollment counselor. I am currently a student and have encountered problems with everything offered at GCU as far as financial and academic counselors. Housing, academics, finance and student services don't care about the students but simply about the money. |
Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
I am disappointed in the amount of negativity shown in these postings. I could not be more pleased with my college experience - you really need to see it for yourself instead of just trusting online ratings. You can schedule a tour and see for yourself! They also offer Discover GCU, an overnight stay on campus for seniors in high school so you can get the TOTAL college feel. I did that when I was a senior, and that's what made me decide to be here for college. If you are a Christian, this is the place to be. If not, there are many opportunities for you to learn more about God. We have Chapel services every Monday morning and The Gathering, a student worship experience, every Tuesday night. There are Bible studies on every dorm hallway. You are required to take a Christian Worldview class.I STRONGLY recommend living on campus. Don't come here just for classes… you won't get the whole university experience. Prescott Hall is the newest dorm, built in 2011, I am living in it now. Strongly recommend this dorm - bathroom is shared with 2 people instead of 4, walk in closet, living room space. It feels much nicer than the other dorms. I recommend rooming with someone you don't know. Take a chance. That's what I did, and my roommate is so far my best friend :)The weekends are pretty dead here. Everyone leaves campus, partying or going home… Food gets boring after awhile, but there is sometimes variety in the cafeteria. I wouldn't be concerned about it too much, not a huge selection, but the food is good!Everyone is extremely helpful and kind. Many opportunities to get involved. Have not had any bad experiences yet. College is everything I expected it to be and more. A great transition from high school. I've only been here for two months, but it feels like home. There are so many nice new buildings, the campus is gorgeous but small enough to feel like you can connect. The GCU arena has MAJOR performing artists like Lady Antebellum, some of them with student discount tickets, and only a short walk from the dorm room!GCU is big on student job opportunities. It is so easy to get a job, go for it! :)
