I signed yesterday then read a ton of reviews last night. I have never been this happy in my life, and I'm so excited for my future! I'm an 16 year old female from a small town, so it was kind of out of my expectations. After reading all these terrible reviews,I became really nervous. I'm extremely committed to my future though, and I've heard good things about Spartan from adults in the aviation world. It's better than most say though? |
Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
Out of the various flight schools I researched after finishing high school, I chose to come to Spartan for a few reasons. 1-After talking to industry professionals (pilots) they all advised me that Spartan was a very common name in the Aviation Industry. 2- Spartan has a rather large fleet of aircraft. Although they are older planes, and sometimes maintenance schedules make things difficult, I didnt have many problems throughout my 3 years here in the Pilot program not getting aircraft. 3- Although Tulsa weather isnt the greatest place for a flight school (Ice storms, T-storms, tornados, wind, snow…) the changes in weather really provide for a well-rounded flying experience. Flight schools located in Florida or Arizona advertise 360 flying weather days per year. Pilots dont always get to choose the type of weather they fly in. Although my safety was never risked, I feel that I have a better understanding of what I can and can't handle. My education here at Spartan was really second to none. My flight instructor was my primary instructor from my Private Pilot's License, through my Commercial Multi-Engine. He always made himself available to me to answer my questions and give me extra instruction when it was necessary. Instructors are extremely smart and talented. Spartan produces good pilots, as I am testimony to that. Spartan doesnt hire flight instructors who are not the best at what they do. I understand there is a lengthy interview process.Dont let some reviews fool you. Yes, this school is very expensive, but in the end, I feel my education is worth it. The actual cost depends on the student's determination and abilities. If you are willing to put forth an effort, and try, you will actually save money. This isnt a party school. Dont just expect to come and not have homework and need to study. The instructors here put in a lot of time and effort to get you to where you need to be. Additionally, you will be attending a private college. If you already have a degree, or aren't interested in a degree, there may be better options for you. However, if you want a degree in aviation, Spartan is a good choice. There are many options to consider when choosing a flight school. Just remember, the grass isnt always greener on the other side. I have met a few students who transfered from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and found that Spartan was more for them.
