AVIATION

MAINTENANCE

TECHNOLOGY

Aviation Maintenance Technologists are in

high demand. For every one hundred hours that an aircraft is used for hire it must go through a thorough inspection process.

These inspections combined with annual inspections and routine maintenance repairs create a tremendous need for

qualified licensed technicians. The people who inspect, maintain, and repair

aircraft, must be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.

In Spartan’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program, not only will you

gain the knowledge and skill required to obtain your FAA airframe and powerplant licenses, you will also gain the confidence required for top

performance on the job.  In this program you will learn everything from

changing a tire to rebuilding a turbine engine.  You will also learn about all

types of aircraft from a small single engine airplane to a large transport

airplane like those used by the major airlines.  If you want to be a licensed

professional and enjoy working with your hands, this could be the right career for you.

PILOT TRAINING

People who make the choice to fly for a living are a special breed.  Whether it’s because of the commitment and sacrifice required to

become a professional pilot or because they have dreamed of flying since their youth, Spartan offers several flight programs designed to help them reach their specific career goal. Whether you are interested in general aviation, corporate aviation, aerial photography, flight instruction, or the airline industry, you can

gain the knowledge and skill required to pursue the pilot career of your choice.

Spartan’s flight campus is located at R.  L.  Jones, Jr.  Airport in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is a tower controlled airport with dual runways. Spartan maintains a fleet of approximately 50 aircraft

including Cessna 152’s, 172’s, 172 RG’s, and Piper Seminoles for

multiengine training. No experience is required.  Spartan can take

you from your first day in an airplane to reaching your goals in the aviation industry.  If you love to fly

and know that flying is what you want as your career choice, then you must take a closer look at

Spartan’s flight programs.

yourself maintaining and repairing systems for television stations, radio

stations, computer networks, telephone companies and many others.  This

program is certified by the Society of Broadcast Engineers and will gain you

as much as two years experience within the industry.  If you enjoy working

with your hands and would like to have a broad area of electronics

opportunities available to you, this career may be for you.

AVIONICS TECHNOLOGY

As technology advances, so does the need for certified Avionics Technicians. Today’s aircraft are

filled with radios, navigation systems, radar, flight computers and many more sophisticated

systems.  This is why Spartan’s Avionics Technology program offers an industry current program

SPARTAN

STUDENT SERVICES

The Student Services Department at Spartan organizes a variety of extracurricular activities and provides non-academic

services for Spartan students.  The extracurricular activities may include a variety of intramural sports such as bowling,

basketball, golf outings, ski trips and other social functions.  Spartan students and staff get involved with the community

by participating in activities sponsored by the United Way, Red Cross, and other non-profit agencies.

STUDENT HOUSING ASSISTANCE

The Spartan Landing is a new student housing complex within walking distance of the Main Campus. There are

four private bedrooms per unit and two full bathrooms. Each unit is fully furnished to include a washer/dryer, refrigerator,

dishwasher, stove, microwave, and furniture.  Access to high-speed Internet and cable TV is available in each

room.  A recreational field is adjacent to the complex.  Availability is limited.

Spartan also has arrangements with a local company to lease apartments for incoming students.  The housing program

for single students provides furnished apartments for the students on the day they register, provided a housing

reservation fee is paid in advance. In addition, this company will assist with housing services for married students,

but does not have a housing list because of individual circumstances. Married students are provided housing options

in apartment complexes and private homes throughout the area. All freshmen students under the age of 21 are required

to stay in student housing their first year, unless they are a commuter.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE

The majority of Spartan students work either full-time or part-time. Opportunities are posted regularly to assist

students in obtaining part-time and full-time employment.  Students are advised on what employment opportunities fit

their work experience and are assisted in preparing for interviews.
