There are good and bad things about the place. Some of the faculty are absolutely top-notch, and in most cases, the departments are small enough that you can develop a pretty good relationship with all the faculty in them. Class sizes vary, but many are quite small. If you are any kind of diligent or interested student at all, the faculty will love you—not often do they get to encounter such students, it seems. On the other hand, if you don't have a way to pay for this place outright, stay away. This is definitely a nickel-and-dime-you-into-a-lot-of-debt sort of school, and it is not worth getting in to debt for. The education you will receive is nothing spectacular. In fact, there is nothing that spectacular about the place. It's sort of weird… it's a Lutheran college with no church on campus, a music school with no concert hall (the venues that are used for performances are absolutely dreadful), it has little in the way of nice facilities, and, even though the school is well over 100 years old, most of the place has a cold-war era feel. If you are dead set on a Lutheran liberal arts college, check out some of the other big names in Minnesota. The politics of the place are also quite aggravating. If you spend any time there, you will notice this. The atmosphere is pretty creepy, unless you are into superficial campy goofiness from a bunch of rich kids and kids who think they are rich. There are also a lot of kids whose acceptance to any college at all should be baffling to anyone who thinks about it. If you want to be exposed to a lot of directionless dimwits who like to talk about nothing, this might be a place for you.
