I am a senior in the Psychology department here at EWU. The program is in the extremes of both good and bad. There are a lot of great students, and a small handfull of really good professors, but those numbers are small. Further, the program doesn't even have an option for a BS (Bachelors of Sciences). Sure a minor detail but for those who want to go into a harder science it's important.

The University it's self is absolutely terrible for students who are going to take their studies seriously. Mainly because of the administration. If any student or other university would like to see what not to do when designing a library, all they need to do is look at JFK (the library here at EWU). I don't know what to mock first the hours, or the overall usage and set up. On the weekends the library doesn't even open until 1:00, and the only other place to study on campus is the pub. The University of Washington has a library thats open nearly 24hr. Tell that to the administration and they immediately state "UW" has more funding. But funding isn't really an issue they just don't want to change the budget, for the greater good. Very few people here use the library properly. Apparently to the students here the library is a place to socialize and do your busy work. The layout of the library has a lot of waisted potential. There are three levels the entrance is on the second level. They also decided to put all group work stations, and coffee stand on the second floor. The third floor has multiple openings so all that noise travels up. What's the worst is there is not one computer station in a quite section on the entire campus. Finally, the last negative of the library is that only half of it is a library, the other half of the building is administration, and an auditorium.

Eastern Washington University has a lot of potential, but it's full of people (faculty, administrators, and students) who love to accept good as being good enough, when excellence is a short step away. The worst part of this place is the greek system. I have no problems with fraternities and sororities any where els, but EWU has found the limit of a greek system. Greek systems are great at bigger universities, but at smaller universities they continue to fail miserably. Central Washington University is a perfect example of this. Here at EWU the students of the Greek system walk around with a false sense of accomplishment thinking they "run EWU"

As a whole EWU should be one of your last choices for a university. It'll get the job done if all you want is that diploma
