Get to know the faculty (as in the professors, not the bureaucrats) here on a personal level (through office hours, clubs, etc…), they are wonderful. Honestly, the faculty members are about the only feature of GCC I will really miss after graduation. I owe my professors a lot for setting up me for success the rest of my life.

Don't come to Grove City expecting much openmindedness on any area of debate. The professors are always open to civil discourse, but I can't say the same about the student body or the administration. The students and administration here are set in their views and do not change their positions lightly (for instance, the admin not allowing a gay-straight alliance because it would be "unbalanced").

If Disney movies, pizza, and soda don't sound like something you would want to do every Friday, do NOT come here. The weather is atrocious from mid-October through late April (try mid-30's and rain all the time) and Grove City's rules prevent parties from getting much wilder than pizza parties with Disney movies and soda.

Do not come to Grove City if you are not prepared to study. Earning a 3.2 at Grove City may be like earning a 4.0 at nearby Slippery Rock, but employers or admissions officers at grad school will always take the 4.0 from Slippery Rock all things equal. You will learn a lot at Grove City, but it will be meaningless if you don't have the grades to show for it (especially outside of the Western PA region). The only possible exception would be the poli sci faculty's connections to DC think tanks and conservative politicians. Other than that, though, you will need to study hard to academically succeed here. If you do succeed, though, the opportunities are endless!

Next, just be yourself when you are here. You will most likely find someone who will accept you for who you are, and I think people here are really starting to get fed up with the phoniness of a lot of Grovers. Don't bother to try and keep up the facade of being a perfect Grover, because you will fail at some point in the four long years of being a Grover. Be yourself, and everyone wins!

Finally, bring an umbrella and a water purifier! It rains ALL the time here and the tap water has a terrible taste.
