I was shocked to see that Fort Valley had a B+ rating. I am not critical but I think people rate it well based on tradition it is a hbcu. But most of the actual classrooms are so tore up, I remember the first day of speech class, it was double booked, students were standing, the tile on the floor was peeling up and was brown and the desks were mismatched and worn. However, I do acknowledge that looks are not the most important when it comes to education but I was disappointed with the academics too. Fort Valley is like a urban highschool part 2. The teachers who do enjoy their job and are knowledgable get ran over. I felt so bad for my philosophy teacher, I have no idea how he kept the courage to come to work. I did not feel academically challenged here for the most part, but if someone had to choose between no college education and Fort Valley id say go ahead and go. As long as you stay 4 years and bully the financial aid office until they do their job you will receive a degree.
