I transferred to the Art Institute of Illinois when I moved to Chicago based on the reviews online and thanks to the story they fed me. I was promised plenty of job interview prospects and other things besides.Reality was different though. First about me… I have a 4. GPA (no thanks to this school). So this is not me screeching my indignation out because I'm failing school. I'm only writing this because I'm extremely disheartened by this joke of an institution. I don't want anybody else to make the mistake I did. Compared to my previous schools, the professors here are sub-standard. One lady (who taught us typography) even told us how clueless she was about the subject, and that she was here only because they couldn't find anybody else to take over the class. When I took the typography class, I realized after the 2nd week that I'd taken the class in my previous school. I told my professor as much. But she insisted that I was mistaken and that after a few weeks we would get in-depth into things. Again, a bunch of bullshit. I ended up paying for the class AND wasting 3 months of my time and energy. None of my mails sent in protest were answered… calls weren't returned and concerns weren't addressed. Jodie, my department head was helpful and so was Javier, my financial adviser. But they could only do so much. The career cell is a joke. Once they sent emails out for a job oriented meeting and when we reached the office it was locked! We waited there for almost 45 mins before heading back home. I send them emails about this and they didn't even bother offering an apology.I have proof to back up my claims - emails, photographs, grade book - and I'm writing this hoping someone from AII would see my rant and call me to find out WHY I FIRMLY believe that this school is such a waste of time and money.
