Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
Bottom line, coming to sac state was the worst decision of my life. Being a huge commuter school, outside of regular school hours, there is no one around and nothing going on. Ive been going here 3 years, and have failed to meet a single person who I still am in touch with. This is amplified by the fact it is impossible to get classes, especially as a mechanical engineer, so you never have the same kids in your classes. Professors, if you can even call them that, are subpar. There has been maybe one or two good ones that I have had, the rest literally read out of the book, or powerpoint, and many seem angry when you ask questions. It seems like they just want to do as little work as possible. Ive had teachers cancel entire weeks of class at a time, with no real reason given. The dorms are literally like jail cells. Brick walls, no real heat or ac (randomly would quit working), and beat up rooms make you feel like a prisoner. Showers would be ice cold then scalding hot throughout the entire length of the shower. I now live off campus, thankfully as the dorms are run very poorly and are in disrepair. The only positive I can see, is the staff of the Mechanical engineering dept are very helpful and try their best to get you your classes. I cannot speak for other majors, but Ive heard theyre not nearly as good. The campus is also decently nice, lots of trees and no streets running through campus. Other than that, the rest is all negative. Overall, I dread going to school, and having to deal with the crappy faculty, the hoops to jump through to get classes, and the seemingly always pissed off students. I will surely be looking to transfer somewhere, anywhere, else. This place has driven away from the first semester I was here.
